We Are Shamwari Yemwanasikana
Shamwari Yemwanasikana (SYS) is a community-based organisation committed to promoting, protecting and advancing the rights and empowerment of girls and young women.
We work within homes, schools and communities to create safe and supportive spaces where girls and young women can access opportunities, build their confidence, make informed choices and participate in their own development.
Our History
Shamwari Yemwanasikana was established in 2014 and is registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 32/18).
SYS was founded with a passion for seeing girls fully enjoy their rights and opportunities in safe and supportive environments. Our programmes recognise the diverse experiences and needs of girls and young women and are designed to ensure that no one is left behind.
Through our work with girls, families, schools, communities and other stakeholders, we continue to create opportunities for girls and young women to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

Our programmes reach communities across Harare, Mashonaland East, Masvingo, Manicaland and Mashonaland Central.
SYS has offices in Harare, Chitungwiza, Mutare, Chiredzi, Murewa and Marondera.
