Official Launch of the P.O.W.E.R. Project
During the second quarter of 2026, Shamwari Yemwanasikana officially launched the P.O.W.E.R. (People and Organizations Working for Equality and Rights) Project with support from Diakonia, bringing together ten partner organisations from Zimbabwe and Zambia to advance gender equality and women’s leadership.

Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 – Murehwa
SYS joined government, partners, schools and communities in Murehwa to promote menstrual health and end period poverty. More than 400 girls received dignity kits, alongside menstrual health education.
Advancing the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence
SYS contributed to the National Indaba on Gender-Based Violence, supporting national dialogue on stronger policy, political commitment and community action towards a GBV-free Zimbabwe by 2030.
Advocacy in Action
SYS participated in the national launch of Zimbabwe’s Framework on the Prevention and Management of Adolescent Pregnancies, calling for stronger collaboration, continued education and access to essential services.
Promoting Digital Safety in the Age of AI
At the Ruwa Innovation Hub, SYS explored opportunities and risks linked to artificial intelligence, reinforcing child protection and responsible digital engagement for girls and young people.
Day of the African Child 2026
Together with Dzikwa Trust, Patsime Trust and ECOZI, SYS marked the Day of the African Child through children’s rights advocacy, cultural activities, sport and engagement around water, sanitation and hygiene.
Growing Futures Through Economic Empowerment
SYS expanded the Market Gardening Project at the Mhoro Shamwari Economic Empowerment Hub in Murehwa, building agricultural and entrepreneurship skills and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
